Good luck with that, as a father my oldest daughter turned lesbian I was there for her loved her unconditionally; and I’m still strong in the church what a blessing the church has been in my life as well as hers, she left the gay world 4 years ago , no she doesn’t go to church she found a really good guy in her life, in her own time she will find her way back with Heavenly Father; as I have allways loved her as showed her the example of what is right and wrong, my desire is to be in heaven happpy with my family for all eternity! Love is Love and is stronger than any and all Boundaries that try to hold us back. Many of us in the conservative communities understand that and yes I'd admit, you also have conservatives that don't. I'm in the middle, but lean right because of the dirty politics that's happening in our world and in our own country. I'm Gay myself and have gay friends. I also have a very supportive gay partner. I was also in the church at an early age, Christian Church, but now many Christian Churches accept everyone. If you love Jesus in your heart than, thats what matters. Never give that up!

I love the visual of the completely empty church. That's what made me finally leave after 30 years of mormonism. I realized God was not there, it was an empty building full of empty promises. I'm one of the lucky ones who's parents have escaped too. Thank you David for writing a song for us, the forgotten, the ones who were abandoned by the community we loved and tried so hard to fit into.

I am blessed to have parents who supported my preference and the man I love and will continue to love in this lifetime. When I came out I was afraid I'd be out of the family as well... my mama and papa after receiving my message said "it's okay, come home". and I did with my boyfriend... and they embraced him and welcomed him to the family. My siblings, in-laws and nephews and nieces did to. The dean in the school I worked in gave me a hug at work... accepting me... our Academic Affairs was and still genuinely happy for me. I got the courage to come out because of you David. Thank for that Instagram post. Cuz just like you I come from a very Christian household and even converted into another denomination which is more Biblical than the former. I got into a lot of mental and emotional pain because of that. I had to pray the gay away but it was more of praying myself away to be this unquestioning empty church pleasing version of me. But now that I'm out and still have a family I realized that it's one of the few things that matter for people like us. To be loved and accepted as we truly are. it weird a weird feeling to be whole, unmasked and still be loved. I am so happy for people and artists like you David. Thank you for helping me navigate life by being my authentic self. Through what you share in instagram and finally this song. It felt like I was going all through it all with you. Thank you for this song! I'm also a gay ex-Mormon. My active family members will not budge from what the Church says. I've given up on hope from my family. I can't even talk with them without them suggesting that I chose to be gay and questioning why I'm not a member. But, thank God for people like your mom for loving their kids no matter what the Church says. I have always been a fan and will continue to be a fan.
